(New video added) With cameras flashing and the group of friends and film crew cheering Sydney Freediver Ant Judge broke the Australian Record of Static Apnea with a 7:07 breathhold.
Thank you Michaela Droppover for the great video
"Its been a long haul," he commented later, "but I finally feel I have got my life back on track." Over the last month Ant has been working on no warm-ups prior to his attempts so there was not a long time before he was doing his final preparations in the water.
AIDA E level Judges Ant Williams (NZ) and Jasmine Bastow were there to recognise the performance. Ant wants to thank them for their time and effort and their professional attitude.
Ant also wanted to thank his training partner Chris Harding for coaching him through, especially those final minutes.
He came up on cue when he was alerted by his coach that he had achieved 7:06. He completed his surface protocol and was stoked when he received a white card.
"It was a tough one with my heart rate out the roof, with all the attention, but I knew I just had to do it" Ant left for Hawaii a week after his National Record for a month of depth training. The local newspaper, the Manly Daily were very keen to run an article about his new record. Ants article was very good despite a newspaper's usual attempt at running controversy. It was a surprise to Ant to get his mug shot on the front page.
